Kristen Fantasma + Mikeal Baker + Novemer 29 = Hearts shooting out of their eyes. (Or lasers, as that would be even cooler.) Here is a teaser from their wedding-many more images to come! (Insider info: this was a day so powerful, Mary had to use a napkin to mop up her tears on the father-daughter and first dance! But it’s okay as Joel cried during the ceremony, so he couldn’t make fun of her too much.)

We had grand plans of epic engagement shots that involved some kind of motorized-helium-cow, six elaborate wardrobe changes, and some props that are illegal in sixteen states. (Okay, so maybe not quite our style.) Instead it was super dark thunderstorm time, and as it was a little crappy out to do a a full on engagement session, we went out to 75th Street Brewery where we had some beers, and tasty dinner.
As we’re physically attached to our cameras, we ran out for a few minutes when it wasn’t rainy, and had a little bit of fun with Megan and Ajay. Not to mention, the “after party” at their house where we had the grandest time assembling a fire pit that had sat in their garage for over a year. I never thought we could have so much fun trying to figure out how to assemble a fire pit in the dark. We actually can’t think of a better way to get to know someone! I’d be great if we could incorporate that into consultations. “Okay, so ‘hi-nice to meet you’ and here’s a disassembled fire pit. Now, I’m going to turn off the lights-here’s your beer-and tell me about your wedding…” Starting a fire with damp twigs that we stumbled around to find, also proved to be a hilarious challenge. In the end, we felt very satisfied in our construction skills, as well as our sans-lighter fluid fire abilities.
Although we’ll be having a complete e-session sometime, I wanted to share some of our favorite images from that spontaneously delightful evening. We can hardly wait until we get to photograph their Indian meets Western culture wedding next summer at the Hobbs Building! (We also hope they have another firepit they need help assembling between now and then!)

This is an invitation for a company party held at Arrowhead Stadium, in Kansas City. We wanted to avoid anything overly Christmas-like, such as straight red and green with a Christmas tree kind of idea. Austin is also an industrial hardware company, so didn’t want to get too far over on the “foo foo” scale. So decided to decorate this greeting card with some bold, custom ornaments. This particular invitation was sent out as an e-vite with a link to directions. For their needs, this was a great solution and cut out paper waste. (Just a note, the date is just a placeholder for the official date, as it hasn’t occurred just yet.)
This is a great example of a party invitation, which is a bit different than our wedding invitations. We love branching out into all events, and enjoy providing something unique for a party’s first impression.
Also, stay tuned for teasers on our holiday card design blog-lings. (Eeks! Time to break out the coffee as the holidays are moving in fast!) We’re going to do it a little differently this year and share our process as it moves along, but try not to give the whole thing away. If you’d like sent on over to you, shoot us an email and we’ll happily put your on our list! (We promise not to send out spam, other than happy-holiday-related-hoopla.)
